It seems that, for a change, we’ll have a green
Christmas here. The sun is out, the temperature over
the freezing point and this weekend is going to be
even warmer and raining cats and dogs. So, all those
mountains of snow will melt and we’ll be able to see the
grass again.

Well, to me that’s fine and more than fine.
I have to wear two (and sometime three) layers of
clothes to keep my body warm enough.

Talking about keeping oneself warm let me tell you
about a discovery a did yesterday afternoon when I went
grocery shopping, to a place called the Organic Garage.

You may know about this, maybe not.

At the Organic Garage there was a guy doing food
sampling and promoting some teas.

Very special ones. All tasty and different too.
One of them had chocolate, can you imagine. Have
you ever tried something like that.

It was okay, but that’s not the one I want to tell you
about.

The one that caught my attention and made say
mmhhh right away was Rooibos tea.

And when he said that Rooibos tea has more antioxidants
than green tea, then he got my full attention.

After I got home I investigated about it and found
very interesting facts about this tea, that I think
you’ll like.

This tea can be great for you this time of the year -
and all year around.

You’ll see.

To start with, Rooibos tea is a caffeine-free and natural
tea that helps soothe indigestion problems (if you
overindulge a little during this holiday season, have a
cup a Rooibos tea and help your stomach find relief).

But there is much more to it.  It has many wonderful
health benefits. For example:

It’s loaded with antioxidants (those anti-aging
friends that help guard your body against diseases
such as cancer).

It helps soothe the skin and combat itchiness and
certain irritations.

It’s a low calorie, refreshing and tasty beverage ideal
for women (even if pregnant) and people on a
reduced calorie plan.

It contains zinc (essential for a healthy immune system
and balanced thyroid function) and manganese (key for
fat and carbohydrate metabolism and normal brain and
nerve function).

It has magnesium too (a mineral that supports the health
of your nervous system. Magnesium helps your muscles
relax).

It contains calcium (important for strong bones).

It boosts your energy levels during the day but at night
it helps you to calm down and sleep soundly (isn’t nature
wise…)

Rooibos (pronounced ‘roy-boss’ in Afrikaans) means
‘red bush’. It’s a large tree grown in a small area near
Cape Town in South Africa, where it’s been very popular
for centuries.

If you haven’t had a cup of Rooibos tea ever I invite you
to try it and enjoy its somewhat sweet and nutty flavor plus
of course all its remarkable health benefits.

One last thing before I go — to have a cup myself ;-)
